OGCbuying.solutions, trading arm of the Office of Government Commerce (OGC) has announced that its eSourcing Managed Service has been recognised at a recent Government Innovation Awards ceremony.

The awards were presented by government Chief Information Officer, John Suffolk at a gala dinner at Madame Tussaud's in London on 26 April 2007 where Buying Solutions fought off tough competition to take away the prestigious award for Shared Services.

Derek Rothwell, Director of Procurement at Buying Solutions, said, "This is further recognition of the achievements of the Buying Solutions' eSourcing Managed Service. Over 50 organisations and 1,400 buyers, utilising the licence-based eTendering and eEvaluation service, have benefited from the savings and this can only be good news for tax payers."

Delivered through BravoSolution UK, the eSourcing Managed Service offers public sector organisations access to a comprehensive suite of collaborative, web-based tools for buyers and suppliers to manage contracting activities.

Recognised as one of the most successful pan-government shared IT application services initiatives, it has helped many UK public sector organisations to abandon paper-based contracting activities and to embrace electronic tools and methods.

In little over eighteen months, the service has managed to attract over 50 government organisations and engage over 20,000 suppliers in online procurement activities through a single managed application service (software, hardware infrastructure, security and helpdesk support services). A further 25 organisations are likely to sign-up in the coming months.
