FL-SafeBoot, has announced that SafeBoot mobile data security technology is now included on business class (b) and professional class (p) feature packages of HP business notebooks and tablet PCs.

Loss of confidential data — including intellectual property, business documents, customer data and employee records — is a pervasive problem among U.S. companies, according to a survey released in August by Ponemon Institute LLC and Vontu Inc. Eighty-one percent of companies surveyed reported the loss of one or more laptops containing sensitive information during the past 12 months, according to the survey, which queried nearly 500 information security professionals.

The SafeBoot® suite of data and device security solutions, the flagship technologies of SafeBoot International, helps protect data and devices against the increasing risk associated with loss, theft, and unauthorized access. SafeBoot solutions offer strong, two-factor pre-boot access control and powerful, FIPS-certified encryption technologies.

SafeBoot Chief Executive Officer Gerhard Watzinger heralds the integration as a win-win for HP notebook customers in search of the most comprehensive protection available.

“From laptop theft to data compromise, organizations are readying their infrastructure with the most complete technology solutions on the market, and HP customers can be confident in knowing their notebooks and other devices are encrypted, certified and in compliance with policies,” said Watzinger.

“HP selected SafeBoot for its ability to easily deploy and scale throughout the enterprise, PKI infrastructure integration and policy management capabilities,” said Carol Hess-Nickels, director of worldwide business notebook marketing in the Personal Systems Group at HP . “Our work with SafeBoot provides customers with some of the most robust and effective data protection technology available and combats the pervasive problem of laptop theft and data compromise without creating a large footprint on the IT infrastructure.”

With more than three million users, and 170 of the Fortune 500 companies as customers, SafeBoot solutions have the largest installed base of any device and data security solution. SafeBoot solutions are Common Criteria EAL4 and FIPS 140-1 and 140-2 certified, ensuring that they employ true strong encryption and secure key management. SafeBoot is the data protection and access control solution of choice for more than 3,000 organizations worldwide, including banks, insurance companies, consultancy firms, governmental bodies, and health care organizations.

This feature is not included on standard class (s) packages of HP business notebooks.
