Zinwave Launches new range of service-specific antenna units to complement enhanced wideband offering
Cambridge, UK, 28 March 2007 – Zinwave, a pioneer of next generation in-building cellular and wireless technology, today launches a new range of antenna units for its 2700 Distributed Antenna System (DAS) product family. The new 2770 range of service-specific antenna units consisting of the 2776, 2777 and 2778, have been designed to complement its existing wideband solution that delivers simultaneous support for 2G, 3G, Private Mobile Radio (TETRA and LMR), WiFi and WiMAX.
With this launch Zinwave is the only provider that can offer a true wideband solution, with the flexibility to integrate service-specific options, all within a single system architecture over the existing multi-mode fibre most commonly used in today’s in-building infrastructures. This enables operators, corporations and private enterprises to deploy a hybrid solution to unify their disparate cellular and wireless infrastructures, whilst giving them the ability to add new services on demand without incurring costly upgrade charges and protecting their initial investment.
Designed to meet the needs of international markets including Europe, North America and
Asia Pacific, the 2770 range features the same control and communication mechanisms used for its 2760 range of wideband antenna units, allowing customers to uniquely mix and match both wideband and service-specific options with the existing Zinwave 2700 hub unit enabling a unified, multi-operator, multi-service in-building architecture, with the capability to support a cellular only or converged cellular and wireless environment.
“Since our initial product launch last year we have been engaged in an intense period of
customer trials with both operators and enterprises in the UK and the US,” explained Martin Cassidy, SVP Sales, Marketing and Business Development. “Having listened to their
requirements we’ve launched a range of service specific antenna units that when combined with our innovative wideband capabilities allow us to deliver a truly unique, hybrid solution that will enable our customers to manage their complete wireless environment from Private Mobile Radio (TETRA and LMR) through to third generation UMTS services.”
David Hancock, Managing Director of Switchnet Systems, a specialist provider of advanced
networking consultancy, design and implementation states that the combination of a move
toward ubiquitous wireless technologies, the growing dependence on mobile applications and devices, and the structural attributes of modern buildings, presents a huge challenge when it comes to deploying a cost effective solution that addresses each of these issues.
Hancock comments, “With the launch of its new range of antenna units Zinwave is uniquely
placed to provide a truly hybrid solution combining both service-specific and wideband options that integrate into a common hub unit. Furthermore its unique approach to utilizing multi-mode fibre means that its proposition is compelling from both a technical and economic perspective.”
