Northgate and Initiate join forces to provide new solution for police intelligence
Northgate Information Solutions and Initiate Systems, Inc. have announced the signing of a new agreement which will allow police forces and criminal justice agencies to improve public safety by combining all the intelligence used to prevent and solve crime - simply, accurately and automatically.
Northgate is offering the Initiate(tm) solution to its police and criminal justice customers in the UK. The solution creates and automatically maintains the master or 'golden' record of individuals by accurately linking information on individual identities, known associates, location and other details.
With Initiate Identity Hub(tm) software, police and criminal justice agencies can establish a clear, centralised view in real-time of individuals and cases, using the most up-to-date information drawn from multiple disparate systems and applications. Individuals can view information according to their security clearance in a format that is best suited to their particular need.
The result is a rich and accurate source of intelligence that can be used by police and other agencies to help prevent and solve crime. The solution also provides critical time and resource savings during the investigative process by eliminating the need to extract and check data from different information systems.
The solution's other benefits include:
* enhanced intelligence on people sharing the same residence to increase understanding of what level of intervention is required and improve both public and officer safety;
* support for automatic requests of systems supplying data to reduce workloads for bureau staff and provide processing, administration and enquiry cost savings.
Dave Meaden, Managing Director of Northgate Public Services, said:"We believe that this agreement is another demonstration of how suppliers must form new relationships so that they can work in partnership to deliver excellent public services. This solution allows police forces to act on accurate and timely information from the fullest range of sources, promoting both community and officer safety throughout the UK."
David Ashworth, General Manager Commercial and Public Sector, at Initiate Systems UK Limited, added:"We are extremely happy to formalise our successful relationship with Northgate. The Initiate solution is already extensively used and has brought substantial benefits to criminal justice agencies throughout the USA. There, the LInX (Law Enforcement Information Exchange) project, which is similar to IMPACT in the UK, is deployed in five different regions of the US with up to 25 contributing agencies spanning city, county, state and federal jurisdictions. LInX provides a single on-demand information source for both counter-terrorism and local law enforcement. I firmly believe that, with Northgate, we can repeat that success here."
