eAuction for mobile contracts
Government Procurement Service announces mobile voice and data competition.
In September 2012 the Government Procurement Service (GPS) will be launching a National Further Competition for Mobile Voice & Data Services using lot 6 from the PSN Services framework. It will be open to the UK public sector, including Health, Local Government, Devolved Administrations, Education and Not for Profit organisations.
During August GPS will work with interested public sector customers to aggregate demand and use it to inform a set of standardised requirements.
In September it will invite PSN Services lot 6 framework suppliers to tender against the agreed requirements, the responses will then be evaluated against a range of qualitative criteria; and GPS will select suppliers to go forward to the next phase.
Finally, in October a reverse eAuction will be held, where the bidding suppliers will compete to offer the lowest price against the requirements set. Customers will then enter into a direct contract with the winning supplier.
The GPS has outlined the following benefits:
- Easy migration to the contract over a two-year period as existing mobile contracts end.
- A three year contract with the option to extend by two further one-year terms.
- Once migrated all mobile contracts will be co-terminus, allowing easier management and migration of your mobile estate in the future.
- Reverse eAuctions have a track record of driving down prices through aggregated demand.
