David Townsend joins as a partner and will be responsible for shaping and developing the UK team at Mason.
Mason is a division of Analysys Mason specialising in ICT consultancy for the public and enterprise sectors. David joins Analysys Mason from Mott MacDonald, the management, engineering and development consultancy, where he was Head of Defence for the firm’s Global PPP/PFI Advisory Division.
During his successful tenure at Mott MacDonald, David was lead technical adviser on many high-profile assignments, including pre and post-financial-close support to the world’s largest and most complex PFI capital programme to date – the GBP10 billion Future Strategic Tanker Aircraft project to provide air refuelling and air transport services to the RAF. Other major programmes on which David has worked include the UK Military Flying Training System, Advanced Jet Training (GBP700 million); UK Search and Rescue helicopters (GBP6 billion); London Fire Brigade (GBP500 million refinancing); and the Defence Training Review contract (GBP12 billion).
David also led many strategic consultancy assignments, including the Greater Manchester Public Transport Executive (GMPTE) IT enabled-change programme; the GBP800 million Maritime Afloat Reach and Sustainability (MARS) programme; and a strategic assessment of the Canadian Shipbuilding Industry.
David brings over 20 years’ experience of working with central and local government, and the maritime, transport, defence training, and blue-light sectors in the UK, Europe and North America. “I am thrilled to be part of the Analysys Mason team. My career has been spent in the technology industry and I look forward to continuing that by working with the Mason team to strengthen our capability in delivering strategic and procurement support for leading-edge and critical-infrastructure projects across the globe,” said David Townsend.
