Staffordshire Police awards £1m contract to Sepura for both hand portable and mobile terminals
Staffordshire completes the quartet of Midlands’ regional constabularies, with West Midlands, West Mercia and Warwickshire also benefiting from Sepura TETRA radios.
Sepura’s SRH3900 and SRG3900 radios have proved to be a winning combination for the Staffordshire force. Sepura added the SRH3900 to the established SRH3000 range in 2008 and has since delivered 50,000 of these compact, tough, hand-held radios to satisfied public safety users in the UK. Staffordshire Police £1m contract includes 2,500 SRH3900 hand-held and more than 200 SRG3900 mobile radios with Sepura Colour Consoles (SCCs).
Staffordshire Police required Sepura to deliver the radios with baseline software within 21 days of the order placement, which Sepura managed.
Sepura’s TETRA radios will enable Staffordshire Police officers to communicate effectively across the force’s area of more than 2,600 square kilometres. The SRG3900, with class-leading 10 watts RF power, gives the greatest operational range of any TETRA radio and, as such, was selected for its superior performance by Staffordshire Police as one of three forces which, together with West Midlands and West Mercia, form part of the Central Motorway Police.
Inspector Derek Roberts from Staffordshire Police comments: “The Central Motorway Police unit provides policing for the very busy, high-traffic West Midlands motorway network. Sepura’s TETRA radios have, in the past, assisted the unit in keeping the motorway network running smoothly. In addition, the reliability and performance of both Sepura’s hand-held and mobile radios has allowed us to fulfil our mission to keep our communities safe and reassured. We had no reason to change that and have every confidence in Sepura going forward.”
