New rapid response vehicle from Excelerate Technology
Excelerate Technology has unveiled the first of a new generation of Rapid Response vehicles that comes fully equipped with the latest communications technologies to enable emergency services to reach serious incidents in the shortest possible time and enhance their command and control capabilities.
The company has integrated a wide range of technologies into the Land Rover Discovery including a transportable satellite, private GSM, VoIP, wireless network, CCTV and video streaming. The vehicle has also been fitted with four drop-down touch screens, COFDM body worn camera kits and a mobile BGAN solution that delivers high speed broadband access on the move.
David Savage, CEO of Excelerate Technology said, “The ability to deliver broadband to command and control units via satellite regardless of location is now well established. This new vehicle offers the same communications capabilities in a smaller, more flexible package that will provide emergency services with the forward command tools to assess and monitor serious incidents. It also has the ability to function as a tactical CBRN unit to analyse information and pass it up to Silver commanders.”
Satellite communications enable this rapid response vehicle to receive and transmit data from all responders and emergency teams and achieve a Common Operating Picture. With a mobile BGAN as well as a roof-mounted transportable satellite, operators can maintain access to high-speed broadband whether the vehicle is on the move or stationary.
“Vehicles of this kind will help emergency services to meet their statutory duty under the Civil Contingencies Act to maintain operational functionality regardless of circumstances,” continued David Savage. “In addition, the on-board communications technologies will facilitate the sharing of information and improve the way that the emergency services and other responders work together in a joined up way.”
