Intergraph’s Icon Awards, which recognise exceptional application of geospatial and enterprise engineering technologies, has been awarded to Surrey Police

Intergraph has named six recipients of the 2009 Icon Awards, the company’s most prestigious customer distinction, recognising visionary companies and organisations that have made innovative use of Intergraph’s enterprise engineering and geospatial software to bring significant benefits to their organisation or industry.

Surrey Police received the Icon Award during the opening keynote ceremonies of Intergraph 2009. To increase the effectiveness of the 9-9-9 emergency call system, Surrey Police, which protects the nearly 1.1 million residents of the southeastern England county bordering London, sought to expand call handling with a customer contact centre. Surrey Police chose Intergraph public safety incident management and reporting solutions, which protect 1 in 12 people in the world, to aid in the development of the centre which answers 36,000 calls per month. Since the Intergraph technology was implemented last year, the department experienced significant reductions in the number of calls per crime reported and efficiency savings.

“Since Intergraph began 40 years ago, our driving force has always been innovation,” said Intergraph Chairman, President and CEO Halsey Wise. “The six 2009 Icon Award winners demonstrate how Intergraph’s technological innovation is helping our customers in truly powering our future.”

“The advancements that these companies have made to drive productivity and efficiency in the industries they serve is truly profound. It is a great honour for all of us at Intergraph to recognise these outstanding industry leaders today at Intergraph 2009,” said Intergraph Chief Operating Officer Reid French.

The full list of 2009 Icon Award winners are: Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL), a fully integrated nuclear technology and service provider; Enersource Hydro Mississauga, an electricity distribution company for the city of Mississauga in Ontario, Canada; Istituto Geografico Militare Italiano (IGMI), a national institution that produces digital cartography and provides integrated geospatial data to the Italian government; Saipem, an Italy-based turnkey contractor in the oil and gas industry; SINOPEC Engineering Incorporation (SEI), a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corp., China’s largest petrochemical producer and crude oil refiner; and Surrey Police.
