President's Comment
At the beginning of October, I represented BAPCO at the APCO Canada Exhibition and Conference held in Toronto. People from all over the world come and exchange ideas and share their problems and requirements. We in BAPCO in the past have assisted our Emergency colleagues across the world, and we continue to be a major influence, holding high respect. This is a major strength of BAPCO and it must continue.

Whilst in Toronto I had the great privilege of signing on behalf of BAPCO, the ACPO Global Alliance Agreement which involves the countries of Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada and the UK. This is an important development, which involved months of negotiation. It should enable us to be a major influence in areas such as standards and afford opportunities to assist development in countries who require our knowledge and experience. I have no doubt with the commitment of the countries involved, it will be a dominant feature on the international scene.
The Canadian APCO Conference and Exhibition was a great success and I am reminded that our own Exhibition and Conference is rapidly looming, in April 2007 at the Business Design Centre, Islington. We are well advanced in the planning but I am always conscious that without the Users and Suppliers, BAPCO 2007 will not be the success it currently holds. I therefore urge all Users and Suppliers to continue to support what is the BEST Conference and Exhibition in the UK, delivering solutions and advice across all the Emergency Services, but also for Local Authorities and other essential Public Sector Services.
Tim O’Connor
President, BAPCO
