Cambridgeshire Fire & Rescue Service showcases GGP System’s Gazetteer
Representitives given full run-down on procurement, implementation and hands on demonstration of GGP Response.
Fire and Police Officers from across the country gathered at Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service’s (CFRS) headquarters in May to discover how the latest software from GGP Systems is helping to revolutionise the provision of back office services, while reducing costs and achieving gains in operational efficiencies.
The seminar, which included presentations from Tracy Raby, Head of Performance and Planning and Nicola Smith, Business Information Manager at CFRS, highlighted the pioneering adoption of the National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG) as its primary source of property and building information. Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service are modernising their systems in preparation for the switchover to a nationally linked network of nine Regional Control Centres (RCCs) across England by 2012 known as the FiReControl project.
“By working closely with other services we hope to share our experiences, demonstrate best practice and even let others learn from the mistakes that we may have already made,” commented Jackie Watson, Project Support Officer at Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service. “This event was designed to demonstrate all aspects of the project from the point when we decided to adopt the NLPG and the realisation that our current software and operating processes were simply not up to the job right through to the selection and ongoing implementation of GGP Response. During this process we came to realise the importance of partnering with a single supplier for all our spatial requirements in terms of cost savings, support and future development needs”.
Tracy Raby and Nicola Smith gave a frank and honest review of their previous back office systems before talking delegates through the procurement and implementation process, including tendering, benchmarking and the benefits they are already achieving.
“This event was fundamental in developing awareness of the opportunities of data-sharing and the importance of having all key addresses and mapping data within one total solution. It also gave attendees a chance to experience first hand the products we have developed, and learn from the experiences of Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service,” commented Jonathan Bunn, Sales and Marketing Manager at GGP Systems. “We will be announcing similar events at venues across the country in the forthcoming months.”
GGP Response is a suite of gazetteer management and geographic information software designed to improve frontline services and boost efficiency.
