City of London Police on message for G20
City of London Police will allow people to be kept fully informed in the event of a major disruption to the City during the G20 Summit by sending real time alerts of anything that happens through its Warn and Inform system, powered by Vocal Ltd.
The City of London Police Warn and Inform system has been operating in the City for 15 years and now has over 1,000 business subscribers with around 6,000 business professionals receiving the information. This service, provided by Vocal Ltd, is being offered for a one month contract to cover businesses during the month of April.
The City may see protests throughout the week of the Summit, however intelligence suggests the City is likely to see demonstrations on the 1st of April including:
Financial Fools demonstration is likely to focus on 3 locations - Bank of England, European Climate Exchange in Bishopsgate and Royal Bank of Scotland in Bishopsgate. The protest is being advertised as a G20 meltdown with four meeting places advertised as Moorgate, Liverpool St, London Bridge and Cannon St at 1100 converging on Bank Junction. There are plans for a 'climate camp' outside the European Climate Exchange between the evening of 31st March and 2nd April.
It is believed that the majority of the protestors intend conduct peaceful a demonstration. Businesses should however, remain vigilant at all times and ensure that buildings are secure. Banks and financial premises are the targets of the protest although this could extend to all premises in the City.
The Real Time Alerts Information is broadcast live and in real time from the City of London Police Control Room including threats, actual events, road closures and stand down/all clear messages. Alerts are delivered to the most appropriate and convenient method for your team; voice, mobile phone SMS text, pager, email or Vocal's unique PrefMail service. The system, powered by Vocal's CIR Business Continuity Award winning iModus messaging platform, provides assured communication and enables you to make the best responses and decisions with the ability to forward and cascade messages to warn and inform staff.
The City of London Police Warn and Inform system was used extensively during the terrorist attacks of July 7 2005 and was the communication system used by City of London Police (and other forces across the country) throughout these incidents.
