South West and South Wales Region Event
Protecting our Critical National Infrastructure and the FiReControl Programme - The next BAPCO Regional Event - 29 January, Taunton
The next event organised on your behalf by the regional committee focuses on the Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) and the FiReControl programme. We have secured a set of high quality speakers who will tell us what the CNI is, the threats posed to it and the countermeasures under consideration to protect it. We will be provided with an overview of the history behind, and the progress to date in respect of, FiReControl nationally and locally, a project which will see the establishment of regional fire control rooms with significant command and control capability, perhaps offering a view of the future for UK emergency service control rooms?
Of particular note, members will be able to witness a demonstration of the key FiReControl IT systems, few people have had this level of insight into the programme and this is an opportunity not to be missed by anyone in a Public Safety communications role. And if all that isn’t enough we will be joined by the Special Operations Team of Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service who will be talking about and demonstrating a range of special new equipment and response vehicles in support of CNI major incidents provided through the UK Fire Service’s New Dimension programme.
The meeting will be held on 29th January 2009 at the brand new Regional Fire Control Centre at Taunton (directions enclosed and a tour of the facility is also included in the day). To attend, please post, email or fax a completed return proforma (downloadable below) to the BAPCO Administration Manager (whose address/number is shown on the document) by no later than Wednesday 21st January 2009.
We will hold a brief Regional AGM during the day, please refer to the AGM papers at the end of this attachment. We look forward to seeing you at Taunton.
