PageOne launch emergency channel for blue light organisations
PageOne has announced exclusively to BAPCO Journal that it is about to launch a paging channel reserved solely for the emergency services.
According to PageOne, disasters such as the London July 7 bombings and the damaging floods that swept across the UK last year, have served to emphasise to the Government and the public the urgent need to improve the efficiency, quality and reach of communications within the emergency services.
The messaging technology company added that the review by the London Regional Resilience Forum after the London bombings in particular identified the immense success of using paging as a reliable and resilient form of communication in emergency situations. It is clear – explained a spokesperson – that rapid communication with those affected in a crisis can do much to limit the damage. Hence the great demand for paging within the public sector and mission critical services.
According to PageOne, the new emergency services paging channel will help relieve the pressure the Government is currently under.
This channel – to be launched next month – will give the emergency services the ability to broadcast critical messaging over the network as a matter of priority, with no risk of those critical messages being delayed by any other traffic. This Emergency Channel service will be provided free of charge to all qualifying organisations defined as Public Sector organisations that operate blue-light emergency applications.
The BAPCO Journal will be exclusively reporting the launch of the Emergency Channel in the July issue.
