Strategic Decision Making in Emergency Management
The Emergency Planning College runs a course: Strategic Decision Making in Emergency Management, which is aimed at Chief Officers & Heads of Service who will be required to sit in the Gold decision making group, in either Single or Multi agency environments, and deliver strategic level management to resolve a crisis situation.
Aim: To prepare participants for decision making in emergency management operations at the strategic level.
Objectives: By the end of the event delegates will be able to:
Analyse problems and make informed, timely and robust decisions under pressure.
Understand your own capabilities when under pressure, to identify areas for development.
Apply the appropriate leadership required within emergency management situations.
Understand the relationship between local, regional and central government command, control and co-ordination arrangements, so as to be able to work successfully within a multi agency and joint operating environment.
Progression: This course provides skills and knowledge training for individuals who may be required to operate within a strategic-level single or multi-agency decision making group. It provides the ideal opportunity for individuals to acquire and practice decision making skills and competences before participating in team exercises. The next stage of training would be participation in a GOLD STANDARD exercise.
