Litigation continues over IDENT1 System

Published:
15 July, 2007

Following on from the recent California Superior Court ruling that Northrop Grumman has no right to use Cogent technology for use in connection with the IDENT1 System litigation continues.

The IDENT1 System is a biometric based identification system in the U.K. developed by Northrop for the Police Information Technology Organization (PITO). The IDENT1 System uses Cogent fingerprint matching technology, which the Court has now found must be returned to Cogent. A spokesperson from Northrop Grumman Corporation told The BAPCO Journal that since the matter remains in litigation the company could not comment at the moment, however he did state that, "We are disappointed with the court's decision and are reviewing our options."

Cogent's remaining claims against Northrop have now been ordered to trial on September 4, 2007.
