Derbyshire Constabulary has awarded PIPS Technology a four year framework agreement for the supply of ANPR equipment to several police forces and local authorities,

The authorities who will receive the technology are Derbyshire, Leicestershire,  Lincolnshire,  Nottinghamshire and Northamptonshire and the contract award follows an extensive period of evaluation and testing by Derbyshire Constabulary of fixed site ANPR equipment.

Matthew Rudder the A.N.P.R. procurement lead for Derbyshire Constabulary said, “The field tests used during the evaluation process revealed that the proposed equipment successfully captured 96% of all number plates accurately.”

Under this latest contract PIPS will supply their P372 Spike cameras, or the new P382 SpikeHD camera, coupled with PIPS Portal software. Spike incorporates single or dual ANPR and scene image capture, with an integrated ANPR processor in a single unit, enabling the user to set up a permanent ANPR system in a matter of minutes. SpikeHD has been designed for use in the highest performance applications where it is necessary to provide the ANPR function across a full 4metre carriageway. Just like the Spike camera SpikeHD is a fully integrated ANPR camera.

PIPS Portal software is an easy to use web-based GUI which enables police and local authority traffic control rooms to share data collected by their ANPR cameras. The Portal acts as a central reception point for all ANPR data prior to it being transmitted to the traffic control room or Anite BOF. Depending on the local back office infrastructure, unlimited multiple control rooms can share ANPR data.

Paul Negus, Managing Director of PIPS Technology, says “We are extremely proud to have been awarded this framework contract, as it is recognition of the fact that we have successful solutions in all areas of ANPR. It underpins our strategy of working direct with UK Police Forces, to ensure our research and development activities closely match the needs of the market place and remain at the forefront of this technology.”
