After the success of the 2008 Congress in Hong Kong the Congress returns to Europe for what is expected to be the largest TWC ever, in Munich for the TETRA World Congress, 26th – 29th May.

This year the Congress is expected to attract over 2500 visitors from over 70 different countries, with over 100 leading suppliers participating in the TWC Exhibition to discuss the latest developments and future requirements of TETRA an the theme for this year’s Congress is TETRA: An Evolving Solution. 

The conference will focus on how TETRA is evolving to meet the needs of today’s users.  The sessions will examine topics including; the latest development in data applications and the first TEDS implementation; new business models to spread the benefits of TETRA and reduce costs; the development of TETRA Broadband; plus a new stream dedicated to using TETRA with complementary technologies.

Presentations

Presentations feature representatives from all parts of the TETRA world including:

Industry including Dirk Borchardt, CEO of EADS Secure Networks; Juan Ferro, CEO of Teltronic; Jeff Spaeth VP of Motorola; Bert Bouwers, CTO, Rohill; Paolo Piccini, COO, Selex who are driving developments and shaping the future of TETRA

Operators including Tor Helge Lyngstøl, CEO, Nødnett; Rolf Krost, President, German BDBOS; Richard Bobbett, CEO, Airwave; and Janne Koivukoski, Chair, VIRVE Co-Operation Group who are deploying and updating networks to meet the needs of users

Users including representatives from police; ambulance, fire and rescue services, utilities companies, mining, oil & gas, power, rail, metros and MTRs, airports, ports, stadiums and many more who are employing TETRA in increasingly varied and innovative ways

Representative bodies Including Phil Godfrey, Chair, TETRA Association, Walter Wiegel, Director General ETSI and Egil Bovim, incoming Chair, PSC Europe who are overseeing the development of TETRA and its future role in the communications world

The innovative programme means that the delegates will be more involved in the programme than ever before.  Interactive features include audience voting where the delegates can have their say on the key issues facing TETRA, discussion sessions where the audience set the questions, plus the chance for visitors to send us videos of where they work to be played around the Congress on TETRA TV.

Co-located with the new Critical Communications Congress

This year, The TETRA World Congress is co-located with the Critical Communications Congress.  Focussing on the future of mission critical communications, this new Congress will explore:

•    how to enhance the resilience of critical and emergency communications
•    examples of mobile broadband technologies and applications for critical communications
•    the use of public networks for emergency communications
•    best practice in incident response and management

Key features for 2009 include:

-    over 25 different focussed streams, seminars, plenary sessions and masterclasses featuring over 150 separate presentations

-    simultaneous English-German interpretation
