Microbus to launch new fixed mount vehicle computer at BAPCO 2009
The BAPCO Conference and Exhibition has always been a perfect opportunity for companies to launch new products and Microbus will be doing just that at this years show with the first showing of their brand new M-PC3 fixed mount vehicle computer.
The M-PC3 is a follow-up to the successful M-PC2 but features a new processor, chipset and graphics and up to 4GB of DDR3 memory. This makes it well suited as an ANPR hardware platform with camera interfaces supporting one MPEG and three video input channels as well as time, GPS position and own vehicle speed text overlay. New Advanced Video cameras, the Sabre 10 and Rapier 25, will also be demonstrated at the BAPCO show.
The Sabre 10 is an in-car 10x zoom surveillance camera packed with features in an ultra compact housing that can be installed in confined areas to permit compliance to the UK's VOSA and ACPO directives. The Rapier 25 is a dual zoom camera with IR LED illuminations and provides an ANPR camera for professional use. It has two varifocal cameras that combine to give independently controllable ANPR and Overview capabilities. Housed in highly rugged IP67 aluminium enclosures, the Rapier range includes options for heaters and sun shields to cope with extremes of weather and a wide range of cradle and bracket assemblies for vehicle and fixed installations.
LINX on the prowl at BAPCO 2009
Microbus will also be able to discuss its new LINX Windows-based tablet PC that has specifically designed for use in the vehicle. Featuring a large daylight-viewable touchscreen and an integral TETRA modem, it provides full PC functionality both in and out of the vehicle and seamlessly links the user, vehicle and control room.
The LINX is designed with dynamic range of controlled entry features for user authentication to optimise security. It is certified for connection to the Airwave TETRA network and includes comprehensive software based security features as well as a physical locking mechanism to secure the device to the vehicle docking station.
The Mobile Information Acceleration Programme portfolio of applications offered by Airwave under this NPIA programme is available on the LINX tablet PC. These include Mobile PNC, Mobile Validate, Mobile Stop & Search, Mobile Command & Control, Mobile Criminal Intelligence, Mobile Email & Personal Organiser, and the Mobile Reference Guide which provides access to the Police National Legal Database and the Police Visual Handbook.
The LINX tablet PC can be easily fitted to existing police fleets. In addition, Microbus has developed a specially formed customised console for selected vehicles such as the Astra. This console has been designed with direct input from police force fleet managers and also reflects the various health and safety requirements that need to be adhered to. Orders for the LINX tablet PC equipped with Airwave mobile applications have been received from a number of forces for roll out over the next few months.
