Ofcom has announced the details for its Spectrum planning for the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games

Published:
05 December, 2007

The planning document published by Ofcom addresses issues that it must consider in planning spectrum use for the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (the

London Games).

The document also explores the possibility of using spectrum—a valuable, finite resource—more efficiently to meet those requirements. It seeks information and views to aid Ofcom's understanding of these factors and so assist them in constructing a draft spectrum plan, on which they expect to consult after the Beijing Games. The document does not address the supply of spectrum to meet the requirements of the London Games. We understand that Ofcom has started considering this issue, many of the details are heavily dependent on the nature and extent of the requirements to be met These will be covered in the draft spectrum plan.

The closing date for response to the planning document is February 22, 2008.
