SunGard Vivista helps Gloucestershire Constabulary improve its Integrated Criminal Justice System
SunGard has confirmed the award of a contract to upgrade Gloucestershire Constabulary’s existing criminal justice system, Unity, to SunGard Vivista’s UNIFI system. The UNIFI system benefits from its predecessor’s ten year proven track record of reliability and usability in support of operational policing functions. It will help bring Gloucestershire’s system up to date with the latest IT industry standards and technologies. The force has also agreed a five year support contract.
UNIFI is a suite of integrated modules within a single application covering an essential array of police business processes from crime, custody and case preparation through to the management of driving document productions, vehicle defect rectifications and road traffic collisions, whilst also focusing on the intelligence derived from these activities and from other sources. Built upon a single database the application requires no interfacing between its own modules which streamlines the technical solution and helps ensure uncomplicated support and easy maintenance. All recorded data can be shared between modules without the need for multiple data entry thus helping to make it more user friendly and less time consuming. Where appropriate the application guides the user through defined screen navigation processes.
Gloucestershire Constabulary’s Assistant Chief Constable Mick Matthews commented,"We have successfully used Unity for the past 10 years in support of Operational Policing Functions. It has proved to be a robust and reliable system and we now look forward to utilising UNIFI, with its enhanced functionality and updated technology, during the next decade in support of providing even more effective and efficient services to the people of Gloucestershire and supporting our Constabulary aims and objectives".
SunGard Vivista justice and security business unit director, Paul Jobbins said,: "A great deal of work has taken place with both teams to get us to this point, but I do feel that the ultimate gain will be to the people of Gloucestershire with an up to date crime and intelligence system, that is built on the solid foundations of the existing Unity system. I look forward to maintaining and further progressing the good working relationship which has been built up between ourselves and the Constabulary.
